Dignity Day at Sewells

Friends, family and staff were joined by the Mayor to celebrate dignity day to raise awareness of the importance of dignity and what dignity means to us. The event took place at 6a Sewells in Welwyn Garden City, a home with seven service users, who all thoroughly enjoyed the day.

To celebrate the occasion the Mayor planted a tree, during which a poem was read by Susan Halsey, one of the services users at Sewells.

The event, organised by Sarah Smith, Dignity Champion at Sewells, also included activities such as a cake decorating station and a wishing tree where people could write what dignity meant to them on a leaf and add it to the tree. The tree will remain an ongoing feature at Sewells.
